Don’t Pray About It

posted Jan 20, 2010

God has given us a brain to use. He wants us to make decisions. And, we are free to make numerous decisions. God gives us liberty and responsibility to choose. We can never go wrong praying. We can never go wrong asking God for his opinion. However, to put off decisions in order to pray about them could be a sign of us not being free.

When a trusted friend who has financial problems needs help, they don’t need me to pray about it. They need me to use my freedom in immediately deciding to write a check. I shouldn’t pray about whether or not to say, “sorry.” Doing the seemingly spiritual thing of praying can equate in wasted time and the elimination of freedom that delays action. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. So make a decision and do it.

The Vast Scheme

People look for intriguing governmental conspiracies or fear “agendas” from extremists.  Something inside of us wants to notice systems that help us make sense out of the world. This extends to  how people view spirituality or the Bible. We look for a lens through with to find and view the through-line of the ancient text.

Many think the Bible contains a hidden code which needs to be deciphered. Some look at the Bible through the lens of morality meaning that the Bible’s exclusive purpose is to tell us right from wrong. Others, through the lense of sovereignty, meaning God is always in control of every little thing.

The Vast Scheme throughout the Bible is one of Freedom. Every principle, parable and prophecy is ultimately concerned about taking humans from their normal position of enslavement and bondage to a place of freedom and liberty. Until we see the throughline of Freedom throughout the Bible we will not be free. If viewed and read the wrong way, the Bible will lead to confusion and deeper levels of bondage.

The Day of Freedom is Here. Get yours.
